Bankruptcy Truths

Making the Right Decision

After you have compiled the answers provided by your pool of potential bankruptcy attorneys, evaluated their credentials and perhaps obtained recommendations from other attorneys it is now time to make your selection.

Obviously money is an issue. Be sure that you understand the fees that you will be charged, the timetable for the filing, the information you must provide and what the attorney will require of you. The local chapter of the American Bar Association can provide some information on the fairness of the fees you were quoted in your local market.

Choose well.... Spending a bit more on a competent attorney who has the time to devote to your case may well be worth the extra money you spend.

Finally, remember- this is your life! Be part of the process and insure you are communicating with your bankruptcy attorney. Make sure you understand what is happening, when it is to happen, and what your role and responsibilities are.
